Day one PS Plus Extra game Tchia has been played by more than one million players across PS5, PS4, and PC, studio Awaceb has today announced. Its release onto Sony's subscription service will probably make up a significant portion of that player base, but sales on the PS Store and across PC will have contributed too. To celebrate, a physical version has been revealed for PS5 and PS4, releasing on 18th July 2023.
Dubbed the Oléti version, it includes the game on a disc as well as a special cosmetic pack inspired by other games published by Kepler Interactive. Taking inspiration from Sifu, Cat Quest, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, and Scorn, you'll be able to customise Tchia's outfits, boat, ukelele, and glider. Physical copies can now be pre-ordered at participating retailers.
In our Tchia PS5 review, we heaped praise on its beautiful environments, authenticity, and interesting mechanics to land on a 7/10 rating. With the game still available on PS Plus Extra — and is expected to remain on the service for some time — there's still more than enough time to join the over one million players who've booted the game up so far.

It's a great game with a beautiful soundtrack. All the best to the team behind it!
I got the platinum the other day. Nice relaxing game, tho the final act of the game actually did some stuff that caught me off guard. That henchman had no chill, thats all i can say XD
Great game. Loved it and more of an 8 or even 9/10 for me. An absolute collectathon for those chasing the platnum though
Really liked the atmosphere of the game, but couldn't get pass the map system.
Not gonna lie, I watched my partners niece try it on my PS5 last night, and I immediately wanted to try it out.
A breath of fresh air in a world of formulaic iterative games as of late.
The only few hours spent on Tchia haven't gelled with me yet. Do need more time with it though. A couple more backlog needs doing first. Still not a fan of the map, the needless and pointless frustration of not knowing where you are on map. Maybe get used to it when played it some more?
Played about an hour when it came out and the game just wasn’t for me. Glad others are enjoying it.
For people struggling with the map you can pin any point on the map then follow the pin on the compass at the bottom of the screen it makes navigating a lot easier if thats what your struggling with.
@KundaliniRising333 I spent many hours on it and even got the platinum and to me it felt very formulaic. I think the chill vibes and beautiful art style hide what is essentially quite a bland game unfortunately. The map is huge but there is barely anything to do in it, the fast travel system isn't very good and the combat is awful (why give the main character a weapon but then not let her use it in combat)
The reason I say it is formulaic is because you do a couple of tasks, watch a cutscene, take down a few enemy camps, watch another cutscene, rinse and repeat a few times until the final fortress.
The controls were a bit awkward, especially the jumping which isnt great as there are a few precision jumping sections, the possession mechanic was severely underutilized and there were waaaay too many collectables.
I am glad people are having fun with it and it is clear the people who made it out a lot of heart and effort into it but without the awesome art style and great soundtrack it really is pretty mediocre.
@Beerheadgamer82 I found that it didn't really improve to be honest. The frustration of the navigation continues throughout the game and is especially annoying when you are going for the collectables.
@RedundantSquash yh I noticed that when opened up the first biggish city area. Still getting easily lost with map direction for collectables even with the compass. I don't give up to easy though and willing to give another go or two. I do like it's look, reminds me of Zelda Windwaker a bit
I wanted to like it, but most gameplay elements are sort of floaty. The music and visuals are great, so I think it could’ve been a good movie, but it just wasn’t that fun to play. I’m all for games trying new things though, so even if I’d give the game a 6/10, I’m glad others are supporting it.
Love this game. Whilst it didnt reinvent the wheel it was chill and I enjoyed the traversal. Also had no issue with the few bits of combat - except in areas where there was little fire to find
I'm delighted that so many people got to try it as its clearly not for everyone. Having it on PS plus means many more of us who will enjoy it, found it.
Ah physical its time to go in.
It looks cute and innocent, until you meet the big bad, then things take a disturbing turn.
So glad they're making physical editions, we should be allowed to own our games, not just for preservation wise but to share ppl's work to others.
I need to finish this. Its a good time.
I’ve always wondered about the business model on PS plus. Like how much does a publisher get paid. Is it a lump sum or a fee per download and licence issued, and how much would that all be?
I still need to get around to playing Tchia. Hopefully I'll find some spare free time this year.
